British Retails Consortium

The British Retails Consortium (BRC) Global Standard for Food Safety originally was developed in 1998 by the food retail industry to create a uniform standard that food suppliers can be audited against and accepted internationally. It was the first audit standard to be formally recognized and approved by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) and is the most widely used GFSI-approved audit standard internationally. Now in the fifth version of the standard, the GFSI-approved audit Standard is closely managed by BRC who license the use of the Standard to Certification Bodies who perform the certification audits.
Benefits of the BRC Global Standard for Food Safety, Version 5, include:
• Comprehensive food safety and quality management system focusing on food safety, quality and legality
• Clear and detailed requirements based on HACCP Principles
• Standardized reporting format providing information on how facilities meet the requirements of the Standard
• Certificate issuance only after non-conformities are addressed and verified through objective evidence
Every three years, the BRC is committed to reviewing its Standard requirements along with external feedback to issue a revised version to ensure that companies continually meet the latest and most up-to-date regulatory and other food safety and quality program requirements.

Safe Quality Food

Safe Quality Food (SQF) is recognized by retailers and foodservice providers around the world who require a reputable food safety management system to effectively manage risk within their organizations. The SQF Program has two standards available, depending on the organization’s place in the food chain. For the food manufacturers and distributors who apply Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), there is the SQF Level 2000 Standard. For primary producers involved with agriculture or livestock, there is the SQF Level 1000 Standard that focuses more on Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs).
For each program, SQF has established three levels of certification:
• Level 1: Incorporation of fundamental food safety controls (core GMP or GAP
programs, policies and procedures)
• Level 2: Certified food safety plan based on HACCP Principles
• Level 3: Comprehensive Food Safety and Quality Management System
At the 2nd and 3rd Levels, the SQF Program is recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative as a GFSI-approved audit schematic.
Course offerings include the Implementer’s Courses is both the SQF Level 1000 and Level 2000 Standards. Refer to our course schedule for a list of dates and locations. We also offer customized on-site training for those who are interested.

ISO 22000

The International Organization for Standards (ISO) has developed over 18,500 International Standards on a wide variety of subjects. The ISO 22000 standard was first published in 2005 as a Food Safety Management System designed to incorporate many of the ISO 9001 principles specifically to the food sector. Their mission was to harmonize the many national and privately developed standards related to food safety by incorporating a management system based on HACCP Principles and Management Commitment.
The ISO 22000 Lead Auditor Course is an intense four-day course that explains the 22000:2005 standard requirement as well as the pre-requisite program requirements in accordance with PAS-220. The course then ties these concepts together with a lecture on the auditing principles as outlined in ISO 19011 to train you on how to effectively audit against the ISO 22000 Standard.

PrimusGFS

The PrimusGFS system is focused on the food safety of those products primarily involved in the agricultural sector that is designated for human consumption in their fresh or minimally processed manner. The PrimusGFS system is organized with three modules that all applicants must successfully pass in order to achieve certification:
• Module 1: Food Safety Management System requirements
• Module 2: GAP (for primary producers) or GMP (for manufacturers) Option
• Module 3: HACCP Plan
Courses are tailored to meet all stakeholders interested in the PrimusGFS System, from processors and producers who are interested in
obtaining certification to independent auditors who wish to qualify as a third-party auditor to the system. Refer to our course schedule for a list of dates and locations. We also offer customized on-site training for those who are interested.
